Project Introduction
Life and health are a major issue concerning people’s well-being. Among various human body fluids, tear fluid contains a variety of inorganic salts, proteins, metabolites, and biomarkers, which can provide abundant and critical information for health monitoring and clinical disease diagnosis. However, there is still a lack of real-time, continuous, in-situ, and non-invasive analytical and testing methods for tear fluid, which creates challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of many ocular and systemic diseases.
Professor Wei Ma’s group at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, has achieved a series of influential research achievements in multimodal physiological signal detection based on organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) (Nat. Electron. 2023, 6, 281; npj Flex. Electron. 2022, 6, 77). The team led by Chief Physician Li Li at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University has long been engaged in clinical and applied basic research on ocular surface diseases and corneal diseases.
Against the background of Xi’an’s construction as a National Medical Center and Regional Medical Center, and Xi’an Jiaotong University’s development of interdisciplinary medical postdoctoral researchers, the two teams are now jointly recruiting
2 interdisciplinary postdoctoral researchers for the project entitled
“Contact Lenses Integrated with Smart Molecular Optoelectronic Devices”. This project aims to leverage the team’s strengths in OECT-based physiological signal detection to develop smart contact lenses that meet the practical needs of clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Recruitment Requirements
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (generally awarded within the past 3 years), be under 32 years of age, and be in good physical and mental health.
Research background in one of the following fields: organic semiconductors, polymer physics, polymer chemistry, polymer processing, or ophthalmology.
Candidates should have demonstrated outstanding achievements in related fields and strong academic potential.
Interested applicants should visit the Xi’an Jiaotong University recruitment website (
careers.xjtu.edu.cn), click
“Position Categories” → “Postdoctoral”, and select
“Postdoctoral Position in the Research Team of Contact Lenses Integrated with Smart Molecular Optoelectronic Devices” to submit an online application.
Application deadline: June 25, 2023.
Preliminary contact with the team leaders before application is welcome.
Salary and Promotion
The appointment period for interdisciplinary medical postdocs is generally
4 years, divided into
Type A and
Type B, both with annual salary.
-
Type A:
Annual salary of
200,000 RMB for the first two years.
For those who pass the mid-term assessment with a grade of “Qualified” or higher, the annual salary will be increased to
250,000 RMB for the next two years, with a lump-sum back-payment of
100,000 RMB for the first two years.
Those who fail the assessment will be transferred to Type B.
-
Type B:
Annual salary of
160,000 RMB.
Those with an “Excellent” mid-term assessment may apply for promotion to Type A. Upon approval by the School of Medicine expert review, the Faculty Appointment Committee, and the special panel, the annual salary will be adjusted to
250,000 RMB.
Additional benefits:
Social insurance and housing fund are provided in accordance with national regulations, at a standard no less than that for similar personnel at the university.
Additional awards from the school/department and research team are available, not included in the contractual salary.
Postdocs are eligible for the university’s policies for children’s education and may rent talent apartments.
The university reserves
special promotion quotas for senior academic positions for interdisciplinary medical postdocs, with priority support for applications to various talent programs.
Those who complete the appointment with a qualified evaluation and meet the university’s talent program criteria or senior professional title promotion requirements may apply for corresponding positions at the university. Those who meet the promotion requirements of the affiliated hospital may also apply for promotion at the hospital, with personnel relations transferred to the hospital upon appointment. Postdocs may also apply for the qualification of associate senior professional title upon completion of the postdoc appointment.
Those who fulfill the contractual tasks ahead of schedule and meet the relevant promotion conditions may apply for corresponding positions at any time during the appointment period.
